Mine should be between 6 and 7 inches now. Im not really confident on taking him out and measuring, i fear it may stress him and trigger a bloat attack :D

Ignorantly I think I’ve stunted his growth by under feeding him. I bumped his food size up a few weeks ago to 3mm NLS and he his actually starting to show growth. He hits the food super hard. One time he was so aggressive at eating he hit the glass top!!!!!!

Is there any advantage in using black and white substrate in haitiensis tanks other than for looks ? Mine is "black" most of the time. Does the substrate have any effect on this ?

I also think yours is not growing as fast as he should. Mine has gone from 2" to 8" in 10 months.

When mine were small I had them over all Black and their colors were definitely darker. When I upgraded them into the bigger tank I went heavier on the lighter sand and their colors changed. My female still went jet black when in breeding dress

I can’t put a finger on it. I do 1-2 large water changes per week and feed him twice a day. I still suspect me underfeeding him afraid of bloat

Wow it’s been forever since I’ve logged in and updated this thread. My boy is still alive and kicking. I’ve had him 7 years now. He’s around 13” IMG_7126.jpeg
