does anyone know if this fish name has anything to do w/that island in the Carribean/

Yes...

Nandopsis haitiensis, commonly known as the Haitian cichlid, Black Nasty, and Odo, is native to the fastmoving freshwater rivers and streams of Haiti.

Thanks!

My guy's hump is getting pretty big. The wife calls him Mr. T (she says he looks like he has a mohawK) I had him and another big male out of the six originals, and he ended up being the bigger of the two and had already paired up with the female, so he made the cut. Since they've been the only two in the tank, they've taken off as far as growth rate is concerned. Maybe they'll both end up being bruisers.
