Thanks masterb! Great lookin pair! Yeah i had 4 in a divided tank till about 4" and got rid of 3. Shoulda put them together first before unloading them.

Without another hait around, a female will sometimes adopt a dominant coloration, looking much like a male. Color in the dorsal is usually the female marker to me.
When she was separated from my male, my females body color would fade, and she would develop a bit of a nuchal hump. When I'd reintroduce the male she would darken, and her profile would change.
If I kept the male in the dark, he would turn almost white.
A one point when his fry were eating him alive, to save him, I kept him in a deep unlit barrel.
