  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I used to have an emerald rainbow fish that one day all of a sudden only had color halfway down its tail. Ill try and find a picture. There was a definite line halfway down its body and is tail was dark bluish green the rest was silver

Hey guys

I saw that some of you didn't know what the hell as going on, with a fish that has a completely black tail, well look no further.

"Any fish infected with Myxosoma Cerebralis may develop darker pigmentation in the caudal area of the body because of damage to sympathetic nerves controlling pigmentation" [1]

"Myxosoma Cerebralis can also cause radical skeletal deformation, it can cause deformed spinal column and skull failing to grow to usual size" [1]

I hope this has answered any questions you may have, so in short to summarise.

This DISEASE can either cause dark pigmentation in the tail, or severe deformation.

Thats insane. Only time i have seen half black fish like that, some asian vendor years ago was doing some chemical dip of some sort to halves of fish to basically chemical burn half of the fish black. Not sure if anyone else on here remembers this. Anyway, do you think possibly he got caught behind your heater or something? Just throwing a guess out there.
