they would add a nice shimmer affect to the tank but they would also add a really yellow hue(you'd have to put them on both sides and use higher kelving bulbs to even the colour out) and won't do too much for the plants. halogens can support plants but they're far from ideal, you'd be alot better off going with some NO shoplights or a CF flood light(HD has 65w 6500k fixtures for about 40bucks)
