Hello, my LFS has two hammer head catfish for sale. I've read about them in the past, but cant think of their scientific name. Anybody know it, and anybody own one or have info on them?
Thanks,
John

They need a large tank and high current, just like an ID shark. Cool fish, mine was eating pellets off the surface.

I'd never heard of it till just now, but man that is a cool looking catfish

idk wat that is but im googling it right now

Cool, what would be the min. tank size for one of these? Planet catfish says they stay under 12".

There are multiple Ageneiosus species, some get bigger than others. I'd say a 125 long would be good, with a big powerhead at one end...you could set up a really cool river tank with similar fish.

I seen a tank full of them a couple month's ago. Passed and still not sure if I should have. I wanted to find more info on them and never made it back to the store. They looked really cool though, similar the the id shark but with a hammer head. Sometimes when you find a really cool fish like that, with a low price tag, it's because they are hard to take care of and don't do well in captivity. In my opinion. Otherwise they would be more popular with a higher price tag.
