If by trust, you mean it trains them to attack your hand when you enter the cage, then yes. I stopped hand feeding my monitors/tegus once they were beyond the small and cute stage...

I'm not that dumb.
Just saying, it works for some animals.
Like my beardie and leo, when I put my hand in the cage they'll follow it and climb on top of it. Never been bitten.

I handfeed the gars, well I dangle earthworms otherwise they would easily eat my fingers.

The Oscars are too crazy, they jump when I open the tank.

The bullhead catfish is too spastic. If you touch him and he's not paying attention he will be spooked and floor it all the way to the other side of the tank(125).
