Hand feeding a black ghost knife

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I had 1 and he sucked blood worms out between fingers

They are the easiest fish to get to hand feed that I have had. I just cup my hand around a block of frozen bloodworm and make it so my BGK can go in and eat the bloodworm.

nice...ill have to try. got to get a step stool first. the bucket on top of a chair is a little iffy, ive almost gone for a swim a few times

I agree with you BGG they are very easy to teach i had a 40cm BGKF and it only toke me a few days to teach it to come to the surface and take a Worms from my hand.

Thomas

Any pics on that 40CM that sounds absolutely awesome?

i hand feed all my ghost knives and elephant nose.
feed them bloodworms few times so they get used to it, then hold the bloodworms just above the water level and they'll come flying up to feed :)

I started feeding my BGK from a turkey baster with thawed bloodworms. Every time I come near him with anything resembling that shape (even my gravel vac) he's trying to eat. I'm working on getting him bumped up to feeding straight from my hands but he's a little shy for the time being. He'll take salad shrimp and tear them up too but he backs up a bit when I get close. I know he smells what I'm offering but it's a work in progress.

My EBJD on the other hand loves it when the BGK doesn't want what I'm offering. He' snatch it up quickly! lol

I managed to hand feed mine from day 1. she loves being hand fed and can even be petted during this time. she has even jumped for a krill before. but be careful larger knives can deliver a very uh, painful nip.
