hand feeding arowana

ya its cute at that size but when its full grown you will be re thinking this whole hand feeding idea.

na,i remember when i did it for the first time,i was happy too.
now i still do it at 2 feet but im a bit more worried now.

yeah right now he charges at my hand and bites the food and darts away. i doubt it can learn to eat from my hand like cichlids. mayvbe.

Pinky is about 22" at the moment and will take food from my hand...along with fingers if I'm not paying attention. The other problem with hand feeding them is that during tank maintaince they tend to assume that it's snacktime and that can be quite a wake up call with a fish thats basicly a 22" muscle with teeth....LOL

Theres a couple of times I stumbled backwards startled as my Aro's broke out of the water to snatch a piece of shrimp from my fingers....hand feeding fish brings the connection to another level, another positive with fish keeping...

Not only the connection..

I found it helps alot when getting fish to accept food they are not used to as they assume things coming from hands are edable.. found it helpful with my dat atleast..
