Hand Feeding Bichir

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yeah right, my senegal is a spazz. He barely can tell where the glass is until he hits it at times.

I used to hand feed my ornate, he got me once (didn't break the skin or anything) but afterwards he was always more careful, hesitant, to take from my hand. I think because of their eye sight it can be difficult for them to distinguish food from feeder. I liked it becase he was much more relaxed about me being in his tank after I got him to hand feed.

I haven't tried to hand-feed my sen yet. I am satisfied with the fact that she can get the food in her mouth on the first try. When I first got her, she jabbed at krill like 4 times before it ended up in her mouth...... not so smart. Now she gobbles everything up as soon as it hits the bottom. I'll take what I can get.

I do play with my plants a lot, so she is used to my hands being in the tank. She only swims away when I accidentally bump into her lol.

risking my finger to feed a Sen...

I have handfed both of my normal sens but my albino is too antisocial :D

mine's the exact opposite. My 3 albinos came up when I handfeed them with market shrimps. My grey senegal bichir darts away whenever it sense my presence or my hand approaching. :(

i once had a delhezi that would only eat out of my hand for a while.

but my senegal is a complete spaz, he will eat anything he can eat out of my hands. i think i've got him too used to handfeeding though because when ever i stick my hand in the tank he thinks i've got food for him so he bites my fingers
