hand feeding cichla is fun

in front of my cichla tank,IL
just fed the cichla some raw shrimp. i allways get a blast out of hand feeding them so fun and cool to watch them comeup and snach the shrimp out of my hand but not so fun with the aro the sob thought my middle finger was a piece of shrimp so it jumped out of water about 4inches and chomped on my middle finger but didnt hit it hard but still broke a lil skin and a lil blood lol.
does anyone else think its fun to hand feed their cichla?
 
I dont hand feed my fish, would love to do so, but im terrified... LO
 
Yeah my mono goes crazy for night crawlers too
 
Sure its fun..but I wouldn't personally recommend it.

I know someone who has had two fingers broken from hand feeding cichla :D

I think there is also someone on this board who has had the same thing happen.
 
I can hand feed my aro but my cichla hit the top water way to haard for me to hand feed!
 
i wouldnt do it with the larger guys...for the sake of my fingers.
ive been hit by 8" cichla and it aint very fun....for me.:ROFL:
i have always done this with the babies though.
it seems to allow them to trust you alot.
the 1" monos im growing out get a kick from trying to swallow my fingers....
 
I used to do this with my aro and other cichlids but have decided it's NOT a good idea. Sure, it's fun showing your friends but it's not as fun when you're doing WC and the fish are biting your hand.:irked:
 
I have never tried to intentionally hand feed. I have however been attacked:ROFL: 4" out ove the water by my orinos. There only about 8" buts its not fun to be grabbed by those guys.:grinno:
