Is there anyone here that hand feed their gars? How safe is it to hand feed a gar?:D

I think jamieishard has a video of handfeeding hers. Probably not the safest thing in the world to do but not real high up either.

how big is it my freind us to feed his like that when it was like 5 to 11 in then stop. (it bite me) lol

i handfed my gars in my pond with whole fish from the market until the crossed the 3 foot mark...then i stopped after watching river monsters!!!! if a 3 foot++ gar bites u...its gona hurt BADLY!!! much worse than an arowana bite. now i just throw the fish in the pond so they scoop it off the botom!

I do hand feed my gars as well so they can get the right ammount of food or else the aros will take them all.

My gars will actually wait for me to dangle the food and they will grab it. Just be careful as their teeth are needle shard and can make you bleed. It's not really painful, but I'm worried about the pathogens in the water that might give you an ifection to your wounds.

It's a matter of being careful so both you and your gar won't end up hurt.

I hand feed the gar tonight and they were not afraid of my hands at all. I think they've acclimated and gotten used to it. Being careful was important because those jaws snap like scissors.

my trop hand feeds. the florida and the spotted think about it but don't yet.
