thinking about a new hand gun and already want a glock 17 9mm or 45.My uncle has about 20 different ones and 10 riffles and i just like how those feel.thinking the 9 mm so i can aford to shoot at the range more often. What do you guys think of buying a used one since they are so tough and what would i expect to pay.Im in cali and i want it leagal all the way. Thanks for any info.I already have a colt 45 too so maybee just give info on the 9mm.:)

the thing I dont like about Glocks is that they dont have an active safety. If a round is in the chamber its show time as soon as you have your hands around it. Me, I have kids around so I need my weapons as safe as possible if they are going to be accessable. Ive also seen "panic fires" with Barettas in combat and they have a safety. I imagine under stress conditions those things are firing as they come out of the holster. I dont know what level of experience or trainiing you have but Id say the Glocks are great pistols - for the pros. Definately not a recreational piece of hardware.

Dont waste your time with a 9mm. You can empty a clip in a crack head and not even slow him down. I never understood the big craze for the 9mm. get a 40 or 45. I just got a 40 cal a few months ago and my dad carries a 45. you can blow a much bigger hole in a crack head with a 45.

And if your going to carry this for protection, i reccomment a 1911. You cant get a better protection piece and it looks good. dont skinp on ammo either. get some good quality hollow points so when you do need to shoot someone, they mushroom out making a bigger hole and spreading lead throughout their body.
a Glock is a good gun but ugly as hell. looks like a brick.

9mm is great ammo for someone who likes to shoot alot, its dirt cheap and its readily available anywhere in the world. it gets rather expensive to go shoot a 45 for fun or at the range and i dont care what anybody says, getting hit with 9mm of lead at high velocity is gonna hurt. i'd rather stop a crook rather than kill him.

ok like i said i have a government colt 45 already. Also i have a pistol grip stainles 12 gauge for home.I want something that i can shoot alot.Im not to worried about crackheads that much but i can fight well too so a 9mm and some good skills should do and if not i can run fast, lol. No just wanting something to shoot alot and i like the feel of the 17.Its not boxy like the others.
