im not a huge Beretta fan, but they make 9mm and 40cal.
I use the model 96 9mm (92 is .40 same gun) at work, iv seen these things abused, fired dirty, not maintained and generally mis cared for. and no problems with the weapon itself. Only have problems with users not liking the gun because of its features. here is alot of the normal complaints-
"this things is innacurate" THIS IS VERY FALSE the shooters dont understand that it has a heavy triger pull which if not used correctly causes a miss. I would say the accuracy is about "average" for a full size auto loader.
"its too heavy" QUIT BEING A FA@!! but really its not a lite gun, its made of steel, not plastics or composites. but it is sturdy.
"i dont like the stupid safety thing" it has an ambedextrious safety lever which also serves as a figing pin block. the safety features work great (assuming you want external safetys') it also has a loaded chamber detector that works (but you still better off checking manually if you aint sertain to be 100%) and a half cock notch.
"i dont like the sights" well the sights are very basic...
"i hate this stupid gun it sucks, 9mm's suck" this is an opinion usually stated by shooters that have no real experiense and dont own firearms personally.
"id rather have a glock" another statement by shooters that know nothing. glock is just a very very verrrrrry popular name for some reason that i dont understand.
Basically, the beretta 92/96 is a solid heavy full size auto loader that is ok on accuracy, very reliable, easy to disassemble, all parts are midish quality steel, has good safety features (besides your finger), heavy triger pull, external hammer double or single action, standard open sights.
I miss anything?
I am open to arguments, and only want to argue to explain why you dont like it if thats the case.
if you get one for around 400-500 used its a good deal.... new 600+ $
