Actually I dont think I have ever met a crack head in my life, but anyone with a basic knowledge of personal defense will know not to use birdshot. Dont you remember VP Cheney shooting that feller in the face with birdshot? Just bruised him up a bit.

Wolf, I agree with you about large caliber vs smaller more controllable. I have been thinking of picking up a titanium (read light weight) wheel gun to carry in my pocket. The guy at the gun store said to go with .357mag but I thought that a quick follow up shoot would be damn near impossible to do with any accuracy. I think Im going to go with 9MM if I can just stop spending money on fish! :irked:

Id rather carry a full size semi-auto anyday though if it was practical. 15rounds, even if you are the best shot in the world, is still better then six!
 
Cheney fired from 30-40 yards away and the most critical of the wounds was a pellet that penetrated the chest and was close to the heart.

At 15-20 feet any lead or steel load in a shotgun is going to penetrate a persons face and neck. People use bird shot so it doesn't go through multiple walls and kill their children. #4 or #6 is recommended for home defense. Also, if you are 30-40 yards away, then one or both of you are outside and home defense will be hard to prove in court.

Proper gun control is about HITTING your target...not knocking it down with the shock wave....or relying on the ever popular 'Accuracy compensating' simi auto in true 'spray and pray' tradition.

I have the Casul of course and my light duty sidearm....a .357 python...both scoped for hunting.

Home defence?........ 2 wolves each over 150lbs and 7 other large breed dogs can be a very intimidating presance....

2 wolves ?? so you plan on getting rid of all the evidense !! Can never stress enough about shooting being about the shooter not the gun ! I want a large cal like the S&W 500, but not really for the home or carry. thanks for the info, you saying I should wait till they redesign it ?

I agree, about birdshot, inside a house i think it would still kill, but 00 lead or lead hollowpoint slugs will not penetrate as far as someone stated earlier. I am basing this off of shooting at plywood stacked together, and various other materials i had laying around. anything fired from a shotgun is not generally going to penetrate like a HP rifle or 9mm. But you also dont want to shoot your kids, neighbors or anybody else.
If your worried about that too much, invest in a good security system for your house instead of guns !!!

the p7 was cocked and uncocked using full hand squeeze on the back strap area.....very safe....wont/couldnt fire until it was cocked....uncocked as soon as hand pressure was release.....always single action...no need to throw the first shot as in a doulble action/single action combo....

While true that is not how a P7 works. When you squeeze the "front strap" I guess you could call it, that is what not only cocks the guns but loads a round in the chamber. There is no hammer or racking of the slide.

i am not sure it would chamber a round, as the slide would have to go back.will go look later :confused::confused:
