Handling a 90 Gallons All Glass Aquarium

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I doubt a 90 or a 120 would be to much trouble for 2 people, we carried my 300 from the truck in the front yard down the side of the house through some sliding doors and onto the stand (prolly 15-20meters or so all up) with 4 guys taking the weight and an extra 2 guys for helping maneuvering. Granted that was a bit of a ***** but that was more due to it being awkward then shear weight

Ive carried 75g tanks by myself awkward but not too difficult.

I move 2 125g tanks myself from my garage down into the basement and onto the stands. As long as you are patient and think out each step in advance you can move just about any tank by yourself.

Easier with 2 though

2 guys will have no problem, unless you got really crazy on the amount of garvel. I actually made a wooden cart to scoot tanks around on,4 large swivel wheels and a rope or two straping it down.

Does anyone else agree that an empty all glass 90 gallons tank can easily be moved by two people?

very easily. I moved my 90 last night by myself it's not that hard. I stand it on end and walk it across the room, then lean it against the stand, pick up the other end and slid it into place. Pretty easy really. I've even moved my 125 by myself. I've moved my 55's many times by myself from one room to another. on and off the stand the whole nine yards. A 90 gallon can easily be moved by two people. My brother and I moved my acrylic 500, just the two of us. Now that was a grunt.

And if it were me I would go with the 90 over the 75.

Thanks for the great feedback. I went to check out prices at the pet store today. $400 with tax for a 90, $500 for a 120 or a 125.

is a 4 foot long tank long enough or do I really need the 6 footer?

damn 400$ for a 90g? i can get brands new aga 125g with tops for less than that. anyways back to subject me and my not so strong wife have moved our 90g many times no prob. the scary one was a 125g with about 150lbs of gravel in it with her:WHOA:

Are you kidding me!!!I will PaypPal you 500$ If you send me a one minuete video of YOURSELF,or just one person picking up,and moving a 90 Gallon tank.....It's dimmensions make it too akward to carry alone.....and don't respond telling me you can slide it on the floor, not sufficient for moving.

let me see a 90 gallon and ill do it i may be able to with my 120 lol are you serious? ill do it lol

I am pretty sure I am getting the 120 now....can this be handled by 2 people? It is a 4 by 2 feet tank.

Weights 225 pounds

I used to work at a LFS, so I have experience lifting most of the tanks out there at one time or another..with someone on the other end! LOL

the 90 isn't bad with two people.

esp. if it is a modern 90.

My 90 purchased in 93 however, has 3/8ths inch thick glass and weights well over 200 pounds.

by contrast, I believe the modern 90's (with the top brace) weigh 160 pounds from All-glass. Big difference due to thinner glass.
