Indeed stupidity. Why are you showing that?
Do you have any idea what happens to your arm when it bites you? Probably not.
Please post also when it has bitten. Sooner or later it will, you know.
That would be cool !! (not)

I have been bitten, many times by this species.;)
This particular one fanged me about 6 times just a few weeks ago.
Stupid as it may seem, I do know what to expect.
I wouldn't be trying with some other species I have though!

But, I made this video to show people that these invertebrates are not out there to get you. A centipede isn't going to bite you every time you come into contact with one, though the risk is definitely there.

cool bug man. Have you ever been bit?

edit: didn't see the second page of this thread, sorry.

They just look a little delicate to me,like there's a chance of injuring the pede when they are picked up to be handled, but I guess not.

LOL yeah I know it seems that way.
But really, they're like roaches, they can squeeze through many gaps one would think too tiny to fit through.
Many shops just catch them with tweezers and hold em so tight they can't escape, and they end up fine.
I don't handle them that way though.... I just let them crawl onto whatever I want them to.

That is one cool bug, wouldnt mind having a big one with a not so horrible bite around :)

LOL this species has a very mild bite.
Many of the larger species actually have the worst bites of any scolopendra!
