thanks Jamo and kaisersousay for ur valuable advice. I am planning to go for canister since my tank will be in my video editing studio and dont want noise at working place. HOB will spoil my aquascaping design although it is good filter. sump is out of question due to noise so canister rocks .... thanks

ruddy for oxygen i have air pump ...

Canisters always leak eventually, and you don't have the load for a sump, go with a HOB in my opinion and set up your aquascaping to compensate for the flow. I would go Aquaclear 110 if I were you, I have 6 of them, some that have been running for 8 years straight. You can't go wrong with an Aquaclear in my opinion.

If you are against this, have you considered a fluidized bed filter HOB? No mechanical or chemical, but tons of biological.

So your choices are HOB or canister.
Another question you need to consider is what type of plants will you be keeping? If your going for high light CO2 and nutrients you should consider a canister since the HOB will allow for too much gas exchange and cause your CO2 set up to be worthless. The canister will also not be an eye sore and can be used with Lily pipes to give the illusion like its not there

had fluval canisters for years and my water is always clean. the 405 has loads of places for all kinds of media using a 405 ad a 205 on my 5x2x2 and its away crystal clear quiet and easy to clean out
