Hao's Bichir Update Thread-August

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks, my tank is 270g-70"x32"x28". My Bichirs are all in one tank except an 8" Delhezi. It's 3m colorquartz sand-red,tan,black mix. The purpose is to bring out better color and contrast on the Bichirs. Red sub would be good for the Bichir, unless its blue back then black sub would probably do fine.

No problem, I'm going to try and remove most of the sand in my tank. ;)

No, I'm going to keep a very thin layer of sand leaving patches of my black barebottom. ;)

I'm going to putting in moon light black sand in my 280gallon tank, but it is very expensive i hope that it will be worth and it bring out poly's color.

Lower jaw bichirs like lapradei might lose there contrast and get dark. ;)

yeah, when u put just black sand, a lot of bichirs lose their contrast and adapt to the black substrate. mix it up with red tan, etc.
thats what hao did. I just put red. either way, they turn out good :)
