i just got a female crowntail over the weekend. my GF has like 6 males my sis has one and a friends mom has like 20males. so i think ima try my hand at betta pimpin hahaha, i got a 10gal set up and the male just now started builing a bubble nest she is showing like 3-4 signs of readiness. any of you guys ever beed bettas just as a challenge not for profit or quality great if you did but most of the bettas you see in LFS aren't show quality and are sometimes too old for breeding i guess you want young ones.

I feel sad for that betta having to swim up and down that big tank just to get a gulp of air.....
She spent most of her time in the upper third of the tank, it's true. She still liked to explore the depths, though. With her nearly perfect torpedo shape (she never egged up) it was no struggle to cross any distance with little more than a flick of her tail. Had I observed significant difficulty breathing, I would have taken action. I still regret having moves her to a smaller tank later. She was a real mega-betta in every way. But I was a total noob and wanted to play musical tanks, you know?

Edna looks ready to lay some eggs! Good luck with her.

I'm going to try to breed my black lace crowntail over the summer. They really are great fish when they have a lot of swimming room.

bettas are simple to breed really, and i once convinced an older lady to buy one of those crazy expensive bio-cubes for a male betta. i'm sure it was happy

I had just received the tank. It was my first 'big' tank and I had just read about the nitrogen cycle. I wanted to see how gently I could cycle a tank. For the record, it did cycle, but the tests showed incredibly low amounts of ammonia and nitrite until it was done. Almost below detectability. Then, she looked happy and I thought, why not? Having just tapped into the aquarium world, the arrangement didn't last horribly long.

I don't know if that is exactly the explanation you wanted, but it's what happened as best as I can remember.

i got a betta all alone in a 35 but il move him when i get my other fish in thier
