Hara filamentosa info?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My observations:

they like being solitary
they might kill other fish
temperature probably needs to be lower
just not great at eating

Sorry to hear. With rare cats it's difficult to tell what their care needs are.

I've recently got a small colony of Aspidoras, and they've been enjoyable so far. They're related to cories and look very much the same, except they're smaller, more active, and more elongated. Especially A. velites, which is almost built like a tiny eel. Might be worth looking into.

I just really want another Brachyrhamdia sp. BOLIVIA but lol they're a rare bycatch.

The Aspidoras look neat but are better in groups? I think?

It just seems like it's super hard to find a 3-4" solitary catfish most at that size want schools.

Aspidoras do want groups, unfortunately.

If you want a cool solo cat, maybe check some L-numbers and see if there's a pleco you want? They come in all sizes, and while they can be shy, they show plenty of personality if kept in a quiet, low-stress tank. I have a L106 that will come out every morning to beg for food, for example.

I got a Super Red L144 BN and L201 Orinco Angel in there. Plecos are neat but don't really fill the same niche. I'm thinking Flagtail Porthole Cat maybe?

I'm down to one small tank and it's understocked and overfiltered now.

The Spotted Raphael exists but I never see it.
