Hard decision...

i'm sure we have a ton of suggestions but you've gotta tell us what you like. i'm sure you've heard the saying one man's treasure is another man's trash.

someone might actually wow about a nice aquascaped guppy tank. how about eliminated some categories or fish you've already kept?

you worry me when you say exos are expensive to get a decent size shoal, aren't they only 5-12 bucks each?

yeah i saw about 8 dollars. Theyre not expensive individually but if I got like 20 it would be expensive. I would like a planted tank but I thought they were a lot of work? ive looked them up and I dont seem to have sufficient lighting etc. Maybe you guys can tell me something different than what I read (hopefully ! planted tanks look awesome!). Ive had a gar for a little while and I thought that It would get too big and it was starting to get a little bigger so I thought I should give it a better home and I got rid of it . I also had cichlids (africans) they were fun but got boring. I currently have a zebra talapia and Its pretty cool but Lbathory , idk if you know him, said he would take it (i posted an ad on marketplace) and I believe he wwould enjoy it more than me so Im giving it up (its not like im giving it up out of my will, i wanted to get rid of it but im debating now wether to keep the 55gal around and thats where this post came from)

Brown Knife Fish and Clown Loaches are always cool and would not outgrow your tank.

right its hard to say as i dont no what you like but i will make some suggestions
option (1) go marine its realy not that hard get a few power heads regular water changes and thats all you need you can cope with out the skimmer and all that dont get live rock just get a huge pice of ocean rock and have that as a senter pice get a lion fish and a snow flake mooray eel that will be a pure wow

option (2) freshwater get a nice 12" tiger oscar and a bichir

option (3) shark tank 3 bala sharks, 2 albino rainbow sharks, 2 apollo sharks, 5 algae eaters

other options are
parrot cichlids (grow 12" and very aggressive)
red fin cigar sharks (terratorial if in pairs)
dwarth snakeheads
pike cichlids (some species are very terratorial & aggressive)
needle nose gars
most big aggressive south american cichlids
giant gouramis
kissing gouramis (very very funny to watch when their in pairs as they literaly kiss its a terratorial dance)
black ghost knife fish
exodons (a very cool showling tetra that is related to the piranha and is a very aggressive feeder keep in large groups)
red bellied piranha (a schooling piranha that is quite skittish but still very aggressive
black rhom piranha (a large very terratorial piranha that will kill most fish that invades its terratory
this is all i could think off of the top of my head but theirs loads

I was actually just considering the saltwater idea. That sounds really interesting. Im going to look into that. And both of those fish would be good in a 55 gal? Also , how many red belly piranha or the other one you suggested would be good in a 55? Im assuming 1 but idk.

Im actually thinking the saltwater wouldnt be a good idea because it would require a lot of attention imo. Im thinking piranha or exodons would be the right choice. I found a place which sells exos for like 5$ so I might get like 8 of them and see how that goes and then get more later on.
