Hard Water Concerns

Maybe I could try to 'harden' the water in their current habitats before I move them. There is already crushed coral in all my filters, but I'm quite sure the water in those tanks is not nearly as hard as the water in the new location (no scale formation anywhere in the tank, despite the coral)

I moved my fish from soft water to hard water when I relocated. Didn't lose a single fish.

That's really good information. How slowly is slowly? I will be moving my fish from my old house up here at some point, and they are quite precious to me, so I want to do things properly. However, by the time they arrive here they will have been in transit for ~18 hours already, so acclimation time would be nice to minimize.
I use the drip method with airline and a air flow control nob. I drip about 2 drops a second until the water is about tripled. Usually takes a little over an hour.... But I have not shocked or seen stress exhibited by any fish with this method. I do this in a 5 gallon bucket.
