Anyone have an idea as to why my little sen has hard yellow fins? They're more like paddles than fins, rigid not bendy. They've been like this since I got him, but he's not growing a lot and looks a lot different than my old sen. I've had him since november and he's grown maybe 1/2 an inch if that in the time? His body and back tail have deformities on them and his head is all lumpy and not smooth like my other one. Not sure if there's anything I can do to help it or if it's just deformed and has uber slow/non existent growth rate as such.

That one should have been a cull. It doesn't look like there is anything you can really do for it. Give it the best care you can and hope it has a good long life.
+1
Where I don't wish any illnesses on my bichirs but I do hope one day I get my own a "Special" bichir :D
Make sure no one picks on that little guy!

No one picks on him, he does his own thing while the other 2 dels squabble amongst themselves. They fight with each other but no one really bothers the sen. He's got his little happy do whatever he wants freedom. But I am thinking I may have to get another one that doesn't have deformities. I'd like a nice big fat healthy one for long term.

i think the fins got bit of thats how my albino sen looked a month later it grew back

Except they've looked like this since november 2010. The yellow parts are "fin" the white is the nubs that the fins grow from, so there shouldn't be yellow. I dunno, he's just my special little sen I guess :)

yea in that case he is special does it swim normal?

did you buy him like that or did it just develope it hes so cute he has his "lucky fins" LOL like nemo :D
