What is the Hardiest Cichlid as far as being able to tolerate temperature fluctuations, resist disease, etc.?

With normal care and regular water changes all cichlids are quite managable. Are you looking for a fish that requires no upkeep?

I have successfully kept fish for years, but recently had to scale down. I do weekly water changes with a hose and have recenlty had issues with cloudy eyes. I am sure it is from the temp fluctuations more than 3 degrees. I have added heaters, slowed the flow rate when refilling, and began adding buckets of warm water but still get a bit of a temp fluctuation. My trimac and umbee have both had cloudy eyes. The only other fish I have are silver dollars and rafael cats who don't have any problems.

I thought the Midas would be hardy. I read where they were fished for with dynamite, and only the strongest that went to deep water survived.

Care to post a link to the dynamite collection technique, that would kill everything in the water.:screwy:

The majority of cichlids will tolerate minor temperature fluctuations, I think there may be another reason for the cloudy eyes, have you had any aggression in the tank, you may find it useful to test the water to rule water quality as the issue.

Cant you just get a python with a faucet attachment and put the same temp water into the tank from the faucet? Even if you have to buy extra hose and connections to get it there from a temp controlled faucet?

the cloudy eyes are most likely caused by other factors, not just the slight temperature fluctuation when you do a WC
