Hardy Plants

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think this is one of those questions where you're going to get a vast amount of different answers based on people's own experiences. However, one supposedly hardy plant that did very well in one persons set up might give you nothing but trouble in yours. And when you add a pleco to the mix anything can happen.

It'll probably be a case of trial and error trying different plants until you find one that grows well and that your pleco ignores.

And another option for you if all else fails, I bet your pleco will find fake plants pretty disgusting!

Yup which is why I'm trying to see various options and see which could potentially survive in the tank while my pleco is in there. I'll be trying all of these options and hopefully get some success out of one of these.

What type of pleco are we talking about? Just so we have a general size we can expect when taking into consideration.

Hypostomus plecostomus. Its not in its temporary tank and will only be there until February or so. In other words it won't be bigger than 10 inches by that time.

I find that Vals grow if all you do is throw them in a tank of water. Anubuias are said to be bitter tasting & generally stand up to plant eating fish. Same with Java Fern.
