I rescued two green crabs that had no claws (fighting, predation, who knows) - and had them in a "touch pool" in my nature classroom. I've taken down the pool since that was temporary for the summer - the crabs are now in a 15 gallon, with 2 native killifish.
The tank is not heated - but I would like a little more color and activity in the tank. I like damsels - what temp should I heat the tank to, for those? How many damsels are best ? I'm not sure if they prefer to be in groups? Does it matter if I got one each of a couple different types?
What are other fish that would be good for this setup? I know the tank is small, so nothing that gets big, like triggers, groupers, etc. The crabs will re-grow their claws, but I'm not worried about them eating the fish at this time.
Please limit your fish suggestions to what can easily be found at PetCo or another LFS, since this is a low-budget, low-priority tank. (I collect my own sea water, since the tank is small enough not to have to mix my own salt, so the fish should be fairly adaptable.)
Thanks!
