ya i did my gr.12 english speech on them cause i found an article and site one them, heres a quote from my speech that i made from the info off the site:
"Almost 20% of an adult pikes diet consists of other pike. Its not uncommon for a pike to choke to death on another pike that is similar in size. There are also many reports of pike attacking and eating other animals such as herons, ducks, muskrats, piglets, and cats. There are stories of pike clamping onto the heads of dogs and cows that were drinking at the waters edge and refused to let go of them. Once a fisherman saw a pike grab a hold of a full-grown swans head while it was rummaging below the water for food. The swan quickly drowned and the pike eventually choked to death. Another fisherman reported seeing a pike pick off 14 baby ducks off the waters surface in under an hour. Animals arent the only targets however, humans are too. There are countless incidents where somebody dragged there finger or hand in the water while travelling in a boat only to shriek in pain a moment later when a pike latched onto their hand resulting in dozens of stitches. There are also incidents where pike have attacked swimmers, some of them even toddlers. They also readily attack divers, often times ripping off their masks. A while ago, in the newspaper, there was one story where a small boy at a pond had waded in barefoot while fishing. After a while his companions heard a scream, saw him topple sideways into the water and begin thrashing about. On going to his aid they saw a large pike hanging on to the boys foot. They pulled him to shore, with the pike still on his foot and had to use stones to drive it away."
ya i have looked for small species of pickerel before to try to keep in a tank, but had no luck catching any in some of the parks in ontario, that was a while ago, i have no room for anything like that though except my one acre pond but i dont want it eating all my catfish and koi
