Has anyone bred Chain Pickerel?

You may want to repost this in the native section for response. It may be hard to breed chain Pickerel in an aquarium, as they can be challenging to keep in general due to feeding requirements. They are a pretty neat fish, both in terms of aesthetics and to catch. In addition to sites like aquaculturestore.com and jonahsaquarium.com you may be able to find them on aquabid, but I imagine they are pricey online. Do you know of any lakes or ponds in your area that have them? They are pretty easy to catch. The other option would be to have someone on here catch some and send them too you (if that is legal in your state and theirs).

redfin pickerel have been reproduced a few times in captivity by hobbyists, shouldn't be much different just much larger, Nanfa write ups on it. Id think you'd be better off just throwing a few adults in the pond due to size constraints . How much of a seasonal variation in temperature do you have? they need some seasonal fluctuations to trigger breeding though it doesn't need to be super dramatic. I would suggest finding your pickerel locally or at least getting them from a supplier in the south so they're already acclimated to your climate as others have said. should be lots of fun though they're great gamefish. you would want to make sure your pong has a great population of forage though since you wont be able to supplement their feedings with pellets like you can with catfish, bass, gar, and sunnies.
