Yeah I used to get the occasional comment like that when i had my big Oscar. I usually just replied, "No. I'm pretty sure thats where cancer comes from."

you couldn't pay me to eat a fish that has been living in a tank for years (or any amount of time for that matter), with who-knows-how much chemicals added over the years.

I hear that sometimes, about eating my fish because they are "so big" Thing is they really aren't that big, compared to a lot of the fish on this site!

I had a neighbor that would ask me about my red-eared slider all the time, he wanted to make soup from her. I always thought he was joking around about eating turtles until he brought home a HUGE snapping turtle, gutted her on the front lawn (she was full of eggs) and cooked the meat on his grill.

haha ya i get comments like this soemtimes, theres alot of people out there who cannot fathum why someone would keep a fish as a pet. unless youv kept a fish most people think they have no intelegents or personality.

one of my friends the other day said "they're only fish" when we were talking about what i would do if there was an earthquake....I wanted to say..."yea and your kids are only kids..." grrrrr
