Has anyone else noticed this pattern on their senegal?

I have 5 sengs right now

3 in a light brown substrate tank = lighter color

1 in a black substrate (just moved a week ago and same age as above) getting darker everyday.

and one adult...my first poly...he is dark now, but also morphed over the 2 years I've had him depending on the color of the tank.

mine has one.. the secret of revealing this pattern is having a dark substrate/ or orange.
