has anyone ever kept a leech (seriously)

I have been keeping a very large leech since last summer. I feed him once a month, and when he stretches out he's about a foot long. He is olive green with an orange belly and a suction part on both sides. He lives in a mason jar with holes punched through the lid. When I feed him I put him in a five gallon pail with some water and a piece of meat (usually pork chops) from the depths of my mom's massive deep freezer.

yup. in a 1 gallon jar. fed him goldfish after we scalled them.

Leeches would need a 1-10 gallon setup, based on how many, a simple filter to remove ammonia and nitrite, muddy leaf liter for substrate, no heater. The ones that suck blood will be happy to feed on raw liver (cow,chicken,etc). Water changes to remove excess nitrate. Watch and enjoy.

That would be so cool to keep a leach, lol. I don't know why but I would keep one.
