Don't remember what I paid for the mangrove. That was over 30 years ago. Kept him in heavy brackish conditions, high pH, and 78-82F. Had him for nearly 4 years before I received orders to anothre state and had to sell him. He was around 20" when he left. He fed on ghost shrimp, glass shrimp, earthworms, dwarf crayfish, live shiners, and live herring. He ate feeder goldfish sporadically when I couldn't net live bait fish.

Awesome!! I heard crayfish is good for strengthening teeth? I know jacks have a tendency to break their teeth did you have that problem?
Mines eating Massivore, crickets, crayfish and Barramundi fillets.

All of my lutes have broken a tooth here and there. But, the teeth have all grown back.

If needed you can give crayfish a bath in epsom salt (1-2 tablespoons/5 gals) to force a molt in about a day. Softshell crays will cut down on tooth sheds a bit.

Jeff Rapps has L.griseus on his list.I have kept argentimaculatus a few times but I have not seen them in any shops for a few years...some places here used to try and market small ones as red finned datnoids.

Do you have the Moses Perch in saltwater ?
Nope, hes in what could be considered almost fresh. Only 2 teaspoons of marine salt for every 10 litre's of water.
Seems to also have bigger canines than the Lutjanus. Also not built like Lutjanus, quite a slim petite fish and definitely not as aggressive, still a fish with an attitude problem. but nothing like the Mangrove.
Also seems to be VERY picky with what it eats. Lucky for me it only took a few days to get the Jack onto pellets. Been trying to get the perch to eat massivore for I don't know how long. Starved for 3 weeks and still didn't touch it. Won't touch crayfish, live blackworm, pellets, frozen. Will only eat live shrimp and nothing else, starting to piss me off!
