I have owned both over the years although I have never kept them together. Haitian cichlids do require slightly salted water as they age, without some salt in the water they can be prone to infections. Cichlidscene had a large show male that he lost when he stopped adding salt to the water. Haits can be very nasty and they have the tools to overcome most any other fish save for very large umbee and dovii.
Umbee are large growing cichlids that are much more comfortable in openwater than most other cichlids. Because they like to swim openly in aquariums they tend to take massive territories. This makes it all but impossible to keeps large males with other fish.
