Has anyone ever thought of this?

nice idea for the butterflys, never knew they glided!

I always liked archer setups with branches overhanging the tank. Put a cricket on the branch and watch the shooting begin

Wow just realized it is the same thing haha, yeah that would wor ive seen em before and would like to do a mini one for my water snake. What im thinking is basically a paludarium but really tall so an aro can fully jump and turn around w/o hitting anything

I love the idea as well. Some day in the distant future when I have more money than I know what to do with, I'm going to build a huge tank similar to what you describe.

Hey if your living in the south you could just throw some netting up around an aro pond, unless you just mean a massive paludarium then yeah that would be crazy pricy, the lighting alone for a big one and tank underneath it would be a TON. The one I plan on doing for my water snake is only going to be like 2.5x2.5x3, basically converting the bottom of a bookshelf (inserting a plexiglass liner) where his current tank, a 20 ga metaframe is sitting

There are some big a** hawks, eagles, and falcons that will gladly take a fish out of a pond. This poor guy I know had his 4 of his huge koi raided by massive hawks. Then he tried to start over with africans cichlids in the pond but with a net over it. He walk out to see the the net ripped and a falcon taking fish at her leisure.

Thats what he had to do sorta. He made a roof over his patio and covered the openings (i guess what would be considered windows) with metal fencings
