Sweet! Maybe if this one turns out to be a flop too I'll just go with the one you posted. Hopefully their quality control hasn't taken a dive. ;)

I was looking into these as BRS TV did a review on them and the results where awesome. Also the King of DIY recommends them as well. Click to 4:38 if you don't care for the salty overview.

Boy those sure are some pricey little buggers. If you seen his video where he says his rays died he actually had one of those cause the melt down. Though he said the manufacturer corrected the issue with them.

Problem with that one is I always seen this message every time I tried to purchase:
The product: Finnex HC-0800 Heater Controller item is currently out of stock. If you would like us to email you when it is back in stock, send along your email address...
Yeah, they go fast at Kensfish, and it seems like it takes several months to get them back in stock.

@xyracer I have the digital version. It seems to work pretty good thus far powering 3 250 watt aqueon pros. Seems that the thermometer on that is about 3/4-1 degree lower than my digital thermometer shows. Otherwise stays pretty stable

That's pretty dang good, in my book, for a fairly inexpensive product.

Well the Finnex looks nice and they are a known brand in the hobby. There will always be a variance in temp measurement. Unless you wanna spend $300+ on one that is calibrated to run within 0.5 degrees of accuracy or better.

Ok.... Ordered this

Have had it running 900W since Friday night. It's doing a fine job. Programming was a PITA at first because the directions are very poor translations to english. Only took me a few minutes of pressing buttons to get the desired results I was looking for. It's a nice unit. Does what I'm asking it to. Has a very large display that can be read from 15+ ft away. It has a user calibration option meaning if you use a analog or nicer digital thermometer to compare what the unit is reading you can then scroll through the menu and adjust how off the unit is. I thought that was a nice function and the unit was only 0.7 of a degree off in my case. Once adjusted it keeps rock solid temp readings. The one thing it does I'm not sure of is that the controller allows the tank temp to roller coaster ie. I have it set at 81 but the unit will let the temp fall to 80 before kicking on the heaters and heating the tank to 81.5. It kinda bugs me but I guess all heaters will have a small amount of roller coaster to their operation.

This was done purposely, and is actually a good thing, it'll prolong the life of the unit. With some high end controllers, you can set the actual temp swing. Bsides, the fish will be absolutely fine even if the temp swing were 5deg apart.
