Has anyone evr tried to heal a broken/dislocated finger on their own?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Just as a side note, the only broken bones I have sought a dr for is my ankle, collar bone, wrist, arm (upper only because of dislocation too), fingers, hand. Iv hand quite a few more that I know where broken. Dr did 0 for really any of them. It was a GIANT waste. Shoulder was nice to go as I got meds, and ankle as I couldnt walk otherwise. The rest was just a wrap or sling. Dr do very little for broken bones unless they are badly broken. Its pointless

I slipped and fell down about 12 feet July 2012. Had to hike back to the car and drive an hour to the closest ER.

About 3 hours later, after deciding by x-rays that the finger was not broken, even though I begged for anesthesia of some kind, the ER doctor just grabbed my finger and pulled. Some tech put a splint on it later A few days later I saw an orthopedic surgeon who put another splint on my finger. The ortho guys don't like dealing with pinkie fingers and prefer doing hip/knee replacements. I missed four months of work and still have deficits. I had a consultation with a hand specialist earlier this year. I should have seen him right after my injury. In attempt to restore function, I will probably need two reconstruction surgeries with months of rehab between each. I'm still thinking about it.

Can't fully extend the finger. Can't bend the finger tip on its own.

I worked with my hands. Not being able to make a fist or grasp things normally impacted my work. I will be incapacitated for months if I have reconstructive surgery. If your hands are important, get medical attention. If you don't heal, seek help from a hand specialist sooner rather than later.

remember, you can pick your friends and you can pick your nose, but you can not pick your friends nose. Right along with you can prick your finger but you can not finger your prick.

just sayen,

all kidding aside, as stated before see a doc.

Eh, I've fractured my fingers plenty of times before. All they've ever done is put a splint on them so now I just tape the finger in question to the next one on my own and fill a pez dispenser with advil.

As a teenager I got in a fight and got "boxers break". Broke the bone in my hand, right pinky finger. All I can say is get it fixed by a doctor. I do have some arthritis in it but nothing like I would have had I fixed it myself. Mine was broken to the point that the bone protruded from my hand. Hurt like a bugger that's for sure. Good luck. Doubt it is broken, every broken bone I've had had a special feel to the injury. Leaves little to wonder about. But all my broken bones have been incredibly severe. My hand was my least serious break. Rough neck country boy;)
