Hi all,

I have a small 15L tank with a sponge filter and LED light which I've just setup under my tank. I set the salinity to 1.010SG.

I got around 50 river shrimp from the local shop, and I love to get them to breed. Is this even possible? Has anyone got any experience with this?

My monsters eat a lot, and I like to give them some live shrimp once a week and it's a hassle to go to the lfs, and they are quite pricey for the amount that I need for all of my monsters.

They are currently munching on some Hikari Cichlid Gold that I soaked, they seem to love it. Their heads have gone pinky red. It's quite amusing watching them carry around the giant pellets.

Anyway, any hope of breeding them? Anyone here who can give me a bit of advice?

Is this Macrobrachium ohione or one of the Palaemonetes species?

They are what appear to be Ghost Shrimp from a google search, but I am by no means a Shrimp expert. They were sold as ''River Shrimp'', caught in Poland apparently.

I had a friend that was breeding them in a full fresh heavily planted tank without a filter. There is no way he could have gotten enough to feed fish weekly. It was a fun tank on its own.

Fair enough. I guess I'll just use it as a holding tank. Large bags of wholesale ones are cheap enough.

If u want to breed enough shrimp to feed to fish first get a kiddy pool with some live plants and a filter, then breed cherry red shrimp in the warm months.
