The other day, one of my kayaking teammates got a small eclipse thing. (She didn't know the gallonage.) When I told her the goldfish she was buying would probably, if well cared for, grow quite literally as long as the tank (It was actually a nicely colored comet.), she replied that the store employee told her the fish has been *Genetically Altered* to grow to only 3 inches. I told her this is BS, and such a thing would be impossible outside a lab, but has anyone else heard of this? If it's true, it could be a pretty cool breakthrough!

But, then again, it would take away my excuse to get big tanks LOL

Please, PMS. (Pardon my spelling)

yeah I have never heard of this, but it wouldn't surprise me. What store was it?

some lfs will say anything to make money

yeah, some moron tryed to sell me a convict for a flowerhorn price $24.99, and then he wouldnt admit he was wrong. then i told him "look at the orange scales on the stomach", it's a female convict cichlid!!! then he said, "ALL cichlids have orange scales on the stomach", i was so pissed!!!:irked: Then to top it off, they were selling a "large" convict for $12.99, the fish wasnt even 2 inches long...:screwy:

I have heard of no such thing, either way, the fish will likely die far prematurely of its full life expectancy. With the alteration, I'm sure many other things were messed up.

yeah you cant stunt growth without messing stuff up with the fish, that seems cruel yet at the same time not cruel, wont have to worry about little girls putting a goldfish in a 1 gallon and it growing way to big, although they never last long in a bowl anyway

It was a pets&pals in Gig Harbor, WA. I have never been there, and now definitely don't plan on going. Especially with Indoor Reef a 3 minute drive from my house!

What happens if it does hit the huge mark can you sue them.
