I HAVE 9 RAYS IN MY TANK THAT HAVE BEEN IN THERE WITHOUT ANY CHANGES FOR ABOUT A MONTH. ALL EATING SHRIMP AND CRAWLERS LIKE CRAZY. I JUST FED THEM 2 HOURS AGO AND EVERYONE ATE. THEY ALL ARE FAT AS CAN BE. I JUST GOT HOME AND ONE IS LAYING THERE DEAD. NOT A SCRATCH ON HIM. JUST DEAD. EVERYONE ELSE JUST ATE AGAIN. I DID A QUICK AUTOPSY TO LOOK FOR PARASITES AND NOTHING. COULD OF HE JUST HAD A HEART ATTACK OR SOMETHING? FIRST TIME THIS EVER HAPPENED. AND IVE OWNED LIKE 100 RAYS. HE WAS A 7.5 INCH MM. ANY FEEDBACK WOULD BE GREAT. NOT EVEN A DEATH CURL. JUST SITTING IN THE BOTTOM DEAD. I HAD TO PUSH HIM JUST TO MAKE SURE HE WAS DEAD. OUTSIDE OF THE FACT HE WASNT BREATHING

Is this speculation or do you have some studies you are referring to?

Sorry. I hate sudden fish death syndrome!!!

Could be stress from the other rays. I imagine there is a lot of competition amoungst that number of rays in a confined space. Not saying it is too many or criticising your fish keeping. Just sometimes it works out and every once and a while, we get one that is a little too mean or not mean enough. You know...
