Wow, you keep senegal bichirs and jewel cichlids, I never see anyone with those. You must be pretty cool....

Responsible keepers keep fish because they like them, not because other people say they're cool....

Anyone got pics of Shad in their tank?

Now I wanna keep a bunch of shad in my 1000g tank in the basement lol. Might try to grab a bunch of threadfins from a hatchery or IDNR sometime. I think they would be awesome in a tank. I know they don't tolerate the extreme cold temps as well as American shad, so I'm assuming they can handle constant warmer temps that I keep my tank at. Maybe someone can chime in with some experience on these guys.

they should be kept in a round aquarium that simulates fairly warm water for natives, a strong current and open water, size depends on the number of fish but they do better in schools. some sportinggood stores sell shad keep, wich is basically a water conditioner and dechlorinator specialized for shad, it allowed us to keep a whole bunch of shad alive in a tiny live well on our boat while using them for bait. anyone who has fished alot knows shad are difficult to keep, but they are a very cool fish in an aquarium, saw them at an aquarium in corpus christi, they look great if cared for correctly in a tank.

It's pain in *** when it comes to keep shads in the capitivity.
