I'm extremely curious about this. I think this is the greatest "ancient fish" of all time.
This brings hope that we will find other “extinct animals” still alive and kicking. How about some velociraptors in the jungle or Sabre tooth tigers in the tundra.....When I was a kid I was into dinosaurs and had a huge sticker book that I tried to fill. One of the stickers was of the coelocanth. It was thought to be extinct, hence it being in a dinosaur book. But years later they found out it wasn't extinct at all! And nowadays there's a fair bit of footage of them online. As far as keeping them in captivity i'm not sure though with a quick search i'm sure you'll get your answer.
Incidentally, two other "extinct" animals were in that dinosaur sticker book, the "aye aye", a small mammal from New Zealand and the "tuatara", a small reptile, again from New Zealand.
Both have since been found doing well in the wild. Haha, not much of a dinosaur book then eh.

That would be news to a lot of people given that there are no native mammals in NZ other than some bats and seals. And also because the Aye Aye is from Madagascar.
