Has anyone successfully raised a Coelacanth in captivity?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm a bit disappointed that Fishhead didn't catch that first.
Geography is not my strong suit I'm afraid. Also I posted mere seconds after TwoHed

I was quite obsessed with these fish when I was younger, it would be incredible to be able to see them in an aquarium one day
Agreed.I would love to see a live one up close in a tank.

This brings hope that we will find other “extinct animals” still alive and kicking. How about some velociraptors in the jungle or Sabre tooth tigers in the tundra.....

Wow now that would be fun. No way I rather just worry about what we have running around wild now lol. Love prehistoric mammal's and reptiles .

The Velociraptors you're thinking of here are a Jurassic Park/World construct, and are actually like Deinonychus then velociraptors!
Likewise the Jurassic Park Spinosaurus being depicted as a bipedal t-rex like thing, instead of the much more piscivorous quadruple ( though most likely able to switch as it needs ) it is in real life.
Actual historical, or pre-historical(?), Velociraptors were infact quite small and not the eat-your-face-off things as shown in common media.
Technically its also a sabre-toothed cat, not tiger, as Smilodon do not share much relation to the modern cat.

Must admit, wasn't expecting the prehistory knowledge to come out on this part of the internet.
