Has anyone tried more than one flagtail?

My first one wouldn't even allow other silver fish in his tank. I got a second one and tried keeping them together a couple times, but surprisingly the much smaller one was the aggressor.

It looks like sometimes it works, sometimes not. I am looking for a new(er) tank, with a larger footprint. I guess when I find one I will try adding one, and if it doesn't work I will move to the other tank. Side note: If you live in the midwest and have an acrylic tank you want to sell that is either 30" or 36" wide, get ahold of me. 7-10 ft long. I don't care about height.

the conspecific aggression in this species is insane. You can sometimes get a few of them to work but it's always short term. The best bet is to just have one. I had one that only grew 1" in 5 months so I has to sell it. Pretty cool fish but was just a complete dwarf and got outgrew by my other fish in the 225

That's a pretty normal growth rate for flagtail.

So far my 3 flag tails are behaving(only 2 days in the tank)...of course they are about 3 inches smaller than my tinfoils and balas...They are the same length as my redhooks but not as massive.

Also, mine do not have red tails yet...but they do have red fins. Not sure they will ever have one as I think there are 2-3 different types of flag tails. I wonder if there are variations between species concerning aggression?

How big are they? Their aggression seems to kick in around 6 or 7 inches. How big is the tank with all these fish?

Mine is about 8 inches now and is the most docile in my tank. It likes to school with my tinfoils. The guy at my LFS told me to get 2 kinda glad i didn't sounds like more often than not they are aggressive toward eachother.
