Has anyone tried this?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah right, ok I’ll add more. I’m also trying to eliminate the cause too.
Yeah man it's bs, there was a YouTube video from Seachem years ago about this issue.

Typically to get the dose rates on the pack, the use an empty tank, dose it chemically with whatever they are trying to remove, eg chlorine, ammonia, phosphate, nitrates etc. Then add the product and take the readings.

There is no adjustment made for lighting, fish loads, or plants and substrate etc.....

So as I said the dose on the pack is usually super weak.

I dose purigen 15 times what's on the packet..... According to their instructions I need about 3 tablespoons for 125L I am running the whole 500ml! Same with Phosguard i just used the whole lot in 1 go!

Thanks mate for your advice I’ll definitely take it on board. I’ll slowly increase my amount.
Don't worry about just adding all your phosguard and purigen in in 1 go, it won't damage anything. If anything more phosguard will reduce the excess phosphate quicker!

Just put it all in.

I’m also trialing adding nitrogen, based on how red my rotala is and that I never ever have even the trace amounts of nitrates. I’m pretty sure with all my wisteria and stem plants I’m most likely suffering algae due to low nitrogen and high phosphate. My current dosing for a 300g/1200 litre.
