Ok whatever. Keep calling it a cichlasoma uropthalmus and see how many times you get corrected here. I gave you the right name my friend. Take it or leave it. I know what Im talking about or else I wouldnt have posted!!! Your welcome for the help!

And NO, I AM NOT CONFUSED.!!!!!

ok every time i typed in that name (yes i sp everything right) it came up with Feste(sp). srry my bad.

I think originally most all cichlids were classified under the genus 'Cichlasoma' and then slowly started to be separated into different genus groups after more study and research. Amphilophus is the correct genus for Uropthalmus (until they change it again lol). The species name Uropthalmus won't change. If you say Uropthalmus or 'Uro', everyone will know what you're talking about, you don't have to specify genus. Common names are Mayan Cichlid and False Red Terror. They're often confused with Amphilophus Festae although they are easy to distinguish from one another once you're familiar with them.

I kept one before but I hard to part with it. It was a beautiful fish. It was kind of peach colored and had small blue scales around its stripes. These fish are nasty. It was the second meanest fish I have ever owned. First being a large female RD.
