Far Far away
i wanted to try out a saltwater pond in my back yard and wanted to see if anyone has did it and how it worked out.a friend of mine has a nerf shark that i wanted to put in it lol. in need of help asap thanks

Pretty sure you mean Nurse shark.

Yes I have, use a heavy liner (60 mil edpn)so as not to poison the surrounding land should the pond develop a leak. Filtration and salinity get really tricky outdoors with uncontrolled evaporation, a cover helps.

Where are you located?

WOW, that sounds like an AWESOME idea. I, unfortunately, know nothing about it. I imagine salinity would be difficult to monitor, as he DR. said.

Good luck

nerf shark? LOL

yeah, I have seen a small one with bamboo sharks in it

I've seen several indoor, but never an outdoor SW pond.

You saw a nerf shark with bamboo sharks in it?! Got pix?

Sorry couldn't resist.

Salinity was hard to monitor, just keep right.

Depending on the size of the pond, I can loose several hundred gallon of water a day to evaporation here in SW Fla.

A modified drip system is almost a must here.

To even be remotely successful of this, do you want coldwater, or a tropical saltwater pond? A reef would be very scary to do out in the open.

hey thanks for da help mystix212- im going to do the coldwater not tropical DR joe- i stay in da socal u think it would be as bad? a friend told it has to be 3 feet deep to keep the temp right, i have the filters and water wat more do u think i need.

how about a pond?:D

but seriously, do you have the pond ready? What filters do you have? What is going into the pond? How have you prepared your water? These are all important questions to think about before getting started
