I just wanted to know if anyone here has used GE silicone II in their aquarium with no problems at all. I have a been around the web A LOT and have some some people who say they have used it and it worked great. I see a lot of negative comments on the GE II but it usually comes from people who never tried it and backup their statement by saying "it contains mildew remover" or something like that. I would like to know if it works from someone who has used it or seen in used. Thanks <-------- damm.im gonna need to get new brakes to stop myself from running on :)

i used white ge silicone 2 to reseal a 540 gallon tank it worked great, kept trout in the tank outside with no illeffects

As long as it does not say "bioseal" or mildew resistant it is fine. The silicone 2 has a slightly lower bond strength than the silicone one.The fumes it releases are less irritating than silicone 1 making it a better choice it you have to work indoors.

Thanks for the help, i just bought two new tubes of GE silicone 2 in black and will put it on.

ive used it and it worked fine.. however the tank was stocked with convicts and they can live in toxic waste...

since type 1 and type 2 cost the same and come in the same colors... do you really want to risk something not going well...

Thats the problem, i want it in black and GE I is rare to find locally in black so thats where GE II comes in. Anyways its already on and looks good and gives of no odor when dry so i think i am on the good side, thanks for the concern though.

Well I know that some people had it work for their fish but it did not for mine.
I had a very healthy betta fish, I made him a really cool aquarium using the GE Silicone II (it had no indication of BIOSEAL however it did say "5 year mold prevention guarantee" something like that). After a few hours of being in the tank, in which I made sure to use the exact amount of betta water sanatizer and exact same temp as his original tank, he was clamping his fins. I immediately switched him back to his original tank, but by morning he had passed :(. Maybe in a salt water tank it's okay, but for my betta it was not.

honostly i know multiple people who have had betta and despite temp and everything else being the same, when they swithed tanks the betta passed. they just are wierd fish IMO.

Well, here's the deal. I first put him in the 2 days ago. I noticed some funny behavior, he kept opening and closing his mouth. I was worried so I switched him back to his original bowl and after a while he started acting normal again. Then yesterday I tried bringing him over again because I was told that sometimes they just do that, but after a few hours he started turning white. I switched him back again, but he didn't make it.

I've also switched his bowl a few times before and he was fine. Granted this was the largest, it seemed like he didn't like the water.
