Since having my tanks up and running, I've noticed my electric bill is insane. I have two 75's with 2 filters on each, 200 w heaters, air pump, 48" coralife T5 fixtures, and UV sterilizers. What is causing my bill to be so high. Could it be the lights? Any ideas??

It's summer time, do you run your air conditioner alot?

I live in Washington. We have lots of Dams and other Green Energy.

SO NO. My bill = cheap! 8cents/Kilowatt

I am aware of my AC, Ive lived in my house for 7 yrs. But, this year w/ the tanks, this summers electric bills are CRAZY !!

yup very high here

mine hit about $450 a month in the summer because i have so much water fighting the a/c. but i keep it at 73 degrees in the house so my tanks stay at 80 without the heaters ever going on

I have to run the a/c almost 24/7 due to the 100 plus degree days here in AZ...my electric bills are always much higher in the summer :(

i live in the midwest. so our ac is running. but my bill is a little high as well. i kinda expected it because i am running 14 filters, 10 heaters, 12 lights, and 8 big air pumps. my parents love my fish but i have a feeling im going to get the no more tanks speech again here soon. since the last "talk" i set up another 45 gal, 55 gal, and 75 gal. i always say ill get rid of a different tank when i bring home a new one but i never do haha.

One thing to keep in mind with water temperature is that its easier to heat or cool the room air than it is to heat or cool the water. So instead of having your tank fight the room temperature set your thermostat to a few degrees below tank temperature and it will keep the heaters from turning on.

Lighting is also a big usage. Consider turning the lights on only when you're in the room.
