Has it been done Maruliodes and Micro in the same tank?

i would say: in your big tank (200x75x75cm right?) with a lot of plants and stuff, it could work well for some time if they are small from the start. but in the long run you will need a much bigger tank + lots of big tankmates.
and even then there are no guarantees. but with fish, there never is anyway so...

hmm.. I think I will await the germans to tell me that channa is best kept in one sp tanks and after many detours explain why it will/wont work..
my plan (if done) was to let the maruliodes gain some size.. he is atm playing nice with the dats and everyone so I guess there is atleast hope for him.. and then add a slightly smaller micro and let them grow up together and lastly add them to the 300 until I see the need for a 700ish..

I guess since you are from the states you can have no experience what so ever from snakeheads.. ..but you might have a very close friend that has tried it and therefore you would know?

most people know my views on mixing them anyway for a number of reasons, but i do accept some people want to have more than one in the same tank and i have not tried that combination, but it is a combination i would not attempt and i think intrxzs experiance sums it up nicley. to be honest micropeltes does not mix well at all when at larger sizes and will allway have the upper hand on any tankmates due to there shear bulk and teeth structure. they are unpredittable to say the least , i have however whitnessed maruloids mixed with pleuro before several times in pictures and on web-sites ,how long it lasted i dont know,but both of theese fish are the most docile when trying to mix. and for some reason seem to tolerate each other.
obviously the best course of action would be to try and get a bonded pair of maruloides ,that would be stunning. and i dont think you would have much problems moving on any spare large maruloides , how ever if you are determined to try two species you would without doubt need to start them off pretty young together and let them grow up together for the best possable chances of it working , also you would have the benafit of needing a smaller tank at adult size than if you used micros. it would certainly be a gamble though
also i know some of our german brothers can come accross as grumpy but honestly it is not the case, i belive sometimes in the translation they can appear a bit short just as we can also appear a bit short in the translation to them , i really dont think anything is ment by it , also because they have such a pasion for the fish. and the amount of species they have bred shows just how dedicated they are to snakeheads , and i think we can all agree that most fish will only breed when they feel totally comfortable ,they probably feel a bit miffed when they share with us the things they have learnt over the years and try to convay that to us , who in turn go ahead and do the opposite anyway, i know i have in the past but looking back now i really belive everything they told me was true and for both my own benifit and that of the fish , i personally think those guys are at least 10 years ahead of us guys and in time we will all come round to there way of thinking.
at the end of the day , it is fairly obvious that mixing any two large channa is going to be a gamble and one that has poor odds at best ,so there is defenatly no garrenties. nothing anyone says can change that , and its a gamble you need to decide if you want to take or not. yes a large micro and a large maruloides would be a fantastic tank to look at , but even better would be looking at a tank with two maruloides protecting there fry
